As a full time esthetician, my most popular service is waxing. Whether it be the bikini area or full body, there is not a day that goes by where I'm not waxing one of my clients. Therefore, I am always in the process of looking for new products my clients can use to help and more importantly heal their skin.
Whether you are a monthly waxer or a frequent shaver, the possibility of ingrown hairs forming on your skin is a strong chance. Although waxing will slow down the process of ingrown hairs, I am a firm believer in doing what's best for you! Waxing isn't for everyone, but the ladies and gents who shave deserve love too.
Which ever team you are on, it's important to take care of your skin to help prevent irritation and ingrown hairs. There are tons of products on the market, but, I have been grateful enough receive a package from TOPICALS that includes their NEW ingrown hair tonic. I have been using this product for about 2 weeks now and I love the formulation and how my skin looks! Let's dive deeper.
For starters, TOPICALS is a black, woman owned brand that can be found online, and in Sephora. The brand targets skin concerns such as dryness, eczema, hyperpigmentation, and now ingrown hairs!
One of the many reasons I enjoy this brand is their mission to raise awareness to mental health. In their packaging, they mention that people with skin conditions are 2-6 times more likely to experience depression and anxiety. Therefore, they donate to mental health organizations like "Sad Girls Club" and "The Jed Foundation" (TOPICALS). We adore a brand with an impactful mission statement!
Now, their new High Roller Ingrown Hair Tonic has 4 main ingredients that help prevent, sooth, treat, and heal the skin:
Salicylic Acid: Decongests pores and helps to prevent ingrown hairs and blemishes
Niacinamide: Antioxidant that brightens the appearance of dark spots and supports skin barrier
Glycolic Acid: AHA that exfoliates and smoothes skin while helping to brighten the appearance of dark spots
Zinc PCA: Anti-inflammatory that helps to reduce redness and reduces excess oil
With these key ingridents, your skin will be exfoliated properly, and less irritated. Also, this will help prevent any future ingrown that want to form. This product can be used all over the skin where waxing and/or shaving is performed.
I used this product a day after my last wax appointment and as the days go on, I haven't had one ingrown and my hair is growing in much softer and less.
If you're new to exfoliation and/or skin care in general, this is a great starter product. When you're new to skin care, I always recommend that my clients start "small" with their skin care. To me, starting small with your skin care means to not have too many active acids in your routine that can slightly damage your skin's barrier. But, this product has safe and effective ingredients that are great for beginners.
